The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans to review the recently released 2025 UTME results due to a high number of complaints from candidates.
In a statement issued on Monday, JAMB’s spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin said the board has fast-tracked its annual post-examination review following the “significant volume of unusual complaints” received since the results were released on Friday.
“If it is determined that there were indeed glitches, we will implement appropriate remedial measures promptly,” JAMB assured.
What JAMB Is Doing:
- JAMB is investigating the complaints, especially from certain states.
- The entire UTME process — including registration, examination, and result collation — is being reviewed.
- Exams may be rescheduled for candidates who experienced technical issues.
Experts Involved in the Review:
To ensure transparency and credibility, JAMB has brought in external professionals, including:
- Members of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria
- Vice Chancellors and heads of tertiary institutions
- Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa
- Measurement and evaluation specialists
“We have engaged top experts to assist in this process,” JAMB added.
Why the Review?
The decision follows a huge backlash on social media, especially under the hashtag #ThisIsNotMyResult, where students expressed shock at unexpectedly low scores — despite previously strong academic performance.
UTME 2025 by the Numbers:
- 1,955,069 candidates sat for the exam.
- Over 1.5 million scored below 200 out of 400.
- The low scores triggered calls for a detailed review and explanation from JAMB.
